Ainda Aqui

Ainda Aqui brings together works in which body, memory and territory appear as materials traversed by transformation and permanence. Produced from the Amazonian experience in Rondônia, the works bring Black figures, rivers, fires, roads, vegetation, ruins, cartographies and sediments into proximity without establishing a stable separation between subject and landscape.

The series investigates what remains when bodies and territories are subjected to displacement, erasure and transformation. Memory does not appear as an intact record of the past, but as unstable matter: it fragments, mingles with the landscape, reappears in other forms and leaves traces.

Between figuration and abstraction, faces and bodies emerge and disappear through layers of water, smoke, earth, color and matter. The landscape, in turn, takes on bodily qualities — it can be wounded, burn, sediment, scar or persist.

Within this field of permeability, Blackness, Amazonian experience and memory do not constitute separate themes. They traverse the same bodies and the same territories, composing images marked simultaneously by vulnerability, transformation and permanence.
